Happy Birthday Chas

June 20, 2008 Leave a comment

Dsc00373_2Tonight we went over to Chas’ mother’s house to celebrate his 30th birthday party. We has some really good grilled potatoes, chicken kabobs, fruit kabobs, and a Blizzard cake!! More importantly, we got to spend time with dear friends. We are looking forward to our small group getting back together after our break. Something has been missing, and I know it’s that time we get to spend with our group.

Happy Birthday Chas!!! (He’s the one on the far right).

I Am Legend

Last night Nicole and I went over to Neil and Amy’s to watch I Am Legend. Jake, Trudy and Darrin were there as well. It was a fun night. We headed over there after Summer Catalyst. I really enjoyed spending time with good friends and just living life. We talked, we ate (some had pizza, some had Chinese food, and others had hot dogs – eclectic, huh?) and we enjoyed a good movie. We even had a good little discussion afterwards. All in all, a great night with great friends. I look forward to more of them.

Let the Madness begin!!!

The most exciting time in sports starts today.  March Madness officially kicks off today (No, I don’t recognize the play-in, um, "Opening Round," game).  48 games over the next 4 days!! There will be a lot of people taking vacation time, using sick time -  whatever -  to stay home and watch the games.  A lot of people staying on the internet all day just to catch the latest scores.  Many brackets will be busted this weekend, and many people will look like fortune tellers with their picks.  What an exciting time!  If your team is in it, I hope they do well!  If your team isn’t, well, you’re in good company (I sure do hope my Hawkeyes play better next year).

Super Bowl XLII

We just got back from watching the Super Bowl at the Ferguson’s house. What a game!!! Easily the best NFL game ever. The fact that we got to enjoy it with our small group and other friends made it sooo much better. We love spending time with everyone. We even got to hang out with our new Lead Pastor Aaron and his family. The whole family looked great in their Colts gear. The Barkers new dog Ocy joined us too. It was a great time.
I will admit that I was torn. Part of me wanted to see the Pats win and complete a perfect season while part of me wanted to see them lose due to their hubris. Still, I think they had a great season, and they should not hang their heads – they still had a regular season for the ages.
One thing that I have realized as I get older is that it’s only a game. Win or lose, the games do not affect my life (we can revisit this statement if my Cubs ever win the World Series). This realization may stem from the fact that I am used to my teams not being consistent winners, but I do know that life is too short to worry about games. I would rather worry about those we got to spend time with and enjoy the time we get to be together.

Dinner with friends

Nicole and I had dinner with some good friends of ours – the Hessels and the Troyers. Originally we were just going to have dinner with Matt and Kelly, but luckily Neil and Amy were able to come along as well (they were able to find a sitter for baby Micah!!). We love these guys and are blessed to have them as friends.
We had dinner at the new Red Robin that just opened up at Zionsville. It was awesome. I think we’ll go back, but we might wait until the newness wears off a little. Still, we had a great time, and we are so glad that we got to spend time with our friends.
