Famous? Why?
I try not to watch too much reality TV, other than So You Think You Can Dance and Top Chef. I don't find it too interesting. And it boggles my mind that people become celebrities from these shows. I can't seem to escape the show on NBC I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! It's always [...]
Knowledge Expansion Through Twitter
Since I've started Twittering, I have formed new relationships with pastors all over the country. I have started to interact with men in Texas, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois -and the list is growing longer. I have started to read new blogs, and the information I am getting is awesome. I am getting different insights on how to [...]
Dinner with the Simpsons
We went to Buffalo Wild Wings tonight with Brooke and Darrin to watch the Hawkeyes take on the Cyclowns in basketball. I love spending time with them cause they are such a great couple. We really enjoy their company and look forward to more times like this.
Dinner with students
I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with a couple of students tonight. Nick and Rudi are sophomores involved in the H.S. Ministry and are a couple of great kids. Our conversation ranged all over, and I had a great time. I have to admit that they have a way of edifying me, [...]
Giving Tree
We spent the night wrapping presents for the family our small group adopted this year. I did not know Chas was such a great wrapper! I really hope the family enjoys what we got them. We had a fun time wrapping presents and being in fellowship.
Fellowship on the 1st
We went to Arby’s to have lunch with the young adults. It was a great time, and it was great catching up with friends we haven’t been able to spend time with in a while. We got to eat with Meghan and Jeff Miller (as Janie puts it – “they are so stinkin’ sweet”) and [...]
Election
I hate elections. I hate the rhetoric that gets strewn about in the effort to convince us to vote for one candidate over another. Don’t get me wrong, I think the democratic process is important and necessary, and everyone should be knowledgeable in regards to what is going on. I just hate the war of [...]
Foundations
Ezra 3:10-11 When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests in their vestments and with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their places to praise the LORD, as prescribed by David king of Israel. With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD: "He [...]
Happy Birthday Chas
Tonight we went over to Chas’ mother’s house to celebrate his 30th birthday party. We has some really good grilled potatoes, chicken kabobs, fruit kabobs, and a Blizzard cake!! More importantly, we got to spend time with dear friends. We are looking forward to our small group getting back together after our break. Something has [...]
Graduation Parties
The annual rite of summer for those who work with the youth. Seniors and their families celebrating their graduation from high school. Friends and family gathering to share in their achievement. All sorts of food and treats and no cooking for weekends on end. What fun! And a little sadness. It’s a goodbye to 4 [...]
