Thank You God For Nicole

August 5, 2011 Leave a comment

I want to wish my beautiful wife Nicole a very happy birthday today. She is the best thing God has blessed me with here on this earth. She is so patient, loving, caring…you get the idea.

To honor her, I dedicate this song to her:

Top Chef, season 4

I don’t like a lot of reality shows.  I’m don’t follow American Idol, Big Brother, or any of the thousand other shows out there, but I do love Top Chef.  Nicole got me into it in season 2 and I’ve followed ever since.  This year they’ve had some amazing chefs…and some that weren’t too impressive.  Last night they got down to the final four, and I don’t think that the last one to squeak in should be there.  I am not a fan of Lisa, and I thought she should have been eliminated before last week.  Last week Dale got eliminated, and I feel it should have been Lisa or Spike.  I think that those two have an overinflated sense of awesomeness.  They talk as if the other chefs aren’t as good as them, and that bothers me because if Spike and Lisa are that great – why have they been on the chopping block 7 and 5 times respectively?  I think Dale was robbed.

Still, my personal favorite is still in the mix, and I really do hope that Richard wins it all.  If not him, then Stephanie because I think she is really good too.  My third choice would be Antonia.  I feel that all three have proved themselves time and again this season.  But if Lisa wins, I might have to boycott the show.

Men’s Final Four

March 31, 2008 Leave a comment

I picked 3 of the 4 teams that made the Final Four (why did I choose UConn over UCLA?? And Duke winning the West?? Was I smoking something?). It has been a great tourney so far with several upsets and Cinderellas (By the way, where are Davidson and Siena located, and just what is a Hilltopper??) I am anxious to see how the last 3 games play out. I have UNC winning it all, but Kanas may repeat what they did 20 years ago with Danny Manning leading the team and win it all. Memphis has something to prove, and UCLA is looking to add yet another trophy to their collection. It should be interesting.

Let the Madness begin!!!

The most exciting time in sports starts today.  March Madness officially kicks off today (No, I don’t recognize the play-in, um, "Opening Round," game).  48 games over the next 4 days!! There will be a lot of people taking vacation time, using sick time -  whatever -  to stay home and watch the games.  A lot of people staying on the internet all day just to catch the latest scores.  Many brackets will be busted this weekend, and many people will look like fortune tellers with their picks.  What an exciting time!  If your team is in it, I hope they do well!  If your team isn’t, well, you’re in good company (I sure do hope my Hawkeyes play better next year).
