God’s Timing is Perfect

June 30, 2009 Leave a comment

For a while I’ve been feeling unsettled at work.  I have felt God prodding me that I needed to make a change, to do something different.  I have applied for positions within the company that I thought God had prepared me for only to not get an offer.

It’s been rough.  It's been disheartening.  I have questioned why, even though I know better than that.

God has His reasons for doing things, and I have no right to question His plan.  I know that He has my best interests at heart, and I know that He will not open the door until He knows I am ready to take the next step along the path He has me on.

Today is the day that He opened that door.

I received a job offer in another branch as a Customer Service Leader, and I accepted it.

I did not have high expectations for this job.  All I did was place my trust in God and asked that His will be done.  Whatever the result, I would have been happy with what He decided.

I am not sure on when I start, but I am excited.  It's a great opportunity for me, and I am grateful that God has revealed His will for me.

Let the Madness begin!!!

The most exciting time in sports starts today.  March Madness officially kicks off today (No, I don’t recognize the play-in, um, "Opening Round," game).  48 games over the next 4 days!! There will be a lot of people taking vacation time, using sick time -  whatever -  to stay home and watch the games.  A lot of people staying on the internet all day just to catch the latest scores.  Many brackets will be busted this weekend, and many people will look like fortune tellers with their picks.  What an exciting time!  If your team is in it, I hope they do well!  If your team isn’t, well, you’re in good company (I sure do hope my Hawkeyes play better next year).

I thought I had announced it…

I found out that I got the Consumer Banker position here at the Washington and Belmont branch effective March 1st.  I didn’t even interview for it.  I am excited to be a part of this team.  It’s a very different environment than the Plaza branch, but I am adjusting.  My Spanish has gotten better, and I am learning new things, like how different countries have different meanings for the same word.  Sometimes it’s embarrassing because I think they’re saying one thing, and they mean it completely different than how I understand it.  It happens.

I am excited for what God has planned for me here.  I know He’s getting me ready for something….

Another change?

March 1, 2008 Leave a comment

Since Thursday the 21st I have been helping out the Washington & Belmont branch because they lost some people and are shorthanded. When the branch opened last February, I was there for a month working until their staff got up and running. It’s something different, and I enjoy being there. The staff is great to work with, and the clientel is easy to get along with. I would say that the customer base is 75-80% Hispanic, so my Spanish has been getting quite a workout.
I applied for the position that I currently hold in the W&B branch this week. Don’t get me wrong, I love my current branch, and it’s not that I want to leave it. It’s just that I think that God is nudging me in another direction, and if it’s what He wants, I’m cool with that. I think I can be a great help at the W&B branch, both to the staff and to the customer base. I guess we’ll have to see.
